Overview

We are excited to announce that from 1st December, a new range of Introduction to Barista Skills units will be available to learners. These units are designed to equip learners with essential skills and knowledge for a barista role, and will be offered at three levels: Entry 3, Level 1, and Level 2. Read more here.

LASER’s Progression qualifications are offered at Entry 3, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 (‘spiky profiles’ can be accommodated) and come in a variety of sizes. Designed to meet a range of needs, they develop personal skills, employability skills and literacy, numeracy and IT skills. They can be used to accredit work experience in a choice of vocational areas. These qualifications are ‘nested’ qualifications (i.e. credits achieved for an Award can contribute towards achievement of a Certificate etc. – where there is an overlap between the qualifications at unit level). They are available to learners from pre-16 through to adults.

Key Benefits

  • Extensive choice of units in a wide range of subject areas

  • Can be used to underpin courses which combine PSD and employability

  • Can be used to accredit work experience, work related learning and traineeships

  • Can be used to allow learners to explore their career options

  • Maths and English units can be used as stepping stones between the levels of Functional Skills and/or to GCSE

  • Spikey profile – learners can start their course at a lower level than the qualification and work up as they become more confident OR gain experience of learning at a higher level than they have worked at to date

  •  Nested – learners can build on previous achievement within the suite

  • Learning is bite-sized so learners enjoy  success quickly

  • No mandatory units affords greater flexibility to learners

  •  Registrations can be made at any time during the year.
