Learners are assessed by a combination of both externally set exams and practical assessments. All assessment methods are as required by SIA.

Upon receipt of all required course documentation and assessment evidence from your training centre, we issue provisional results and then final qualification certificates within five working days.

Yes, all LASER qualifications offered via the Trident Awards brand are approved by the SIA and meet the security industry’s requirements. This means you can use your Trident Awards qualification to apply for an SIA licence.

The SIA is the UK’s statutory regulator for the private security industry. It licences individuals to work in specific security roles, oversees the development of security industry qualifications to ensure public safety and professional standards, and approves a small number of Awarding Organisations including Trident Awards to offer these qualifications through their approved training centres.

Centres must meet all approval requirements, including qualified trainers, suitable facilities, insurance cover, and have robust quality assurance processes in place. Read more about becoming a Trident Awards centre here. Centres must then evidence that they are continually meeting the high standards required by Trident Awards in order to maintain their approval.

Centres delivering SIA licence-linked qualifications must hold public liability, employers’ liability, and professional indemnity insurance. Insurance policies for centres delivering physical intervention training must explicitly include ‘training in physical intervention’ under ‘Business Activity’.
