Essential qualification for those working or seeking work as a CCTV Operator in the private security industry. The qualification is a pre-requisite under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act (2001) for individuals wishing to apply to the Security Industry Authority for a licence to work as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance).
Provides full coverage of the competences specified by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) for CCTV Operatives
Meets the SIA requirements for a licenced-linked qualification
Aimed at new entrants to the private security industry without a previous award or qualification conferring full or partial exemption
A pre-requisite for the Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence, required by anyone undertaking public space surveillance activities

Minimum age for registration is 16. Note, individuals must be 18 before they can apply for an SIA licence.

For the Principles of Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry unit learners must complete and must achieve 100% in a practical demonstration of CCTV surveillance skills, assessed by the tutor.
In addition, learners must complete a portfolio of evidence and achieve an 80% pass mark for the short answer element of the workbook.
