Trident Awards is a leading and respected brand developed by Laser Learning Awards, dedicated to an expert and focused approach to offering Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence-linked qualifications for the security sector. We welcome new centres that can meet and maintain our high standards.
If you are interested in becoming an approved Trident Awards centre, it is essential that you read all the following information before applying, to ensure you meet all requirements.
- We take quality assurance and compliance very seriously, working closely with the SIA, Ofqual, and other Awarding Organisations to minimise malpractice in the industry. Therefore, the application process is rigorous. You must demonstrate that you have all the necessary resources, including physical resources, appropriate expertise, and policies to meet our requirements, including those set by the SIA. Please read the Trident Awards Qualification Specifications which can be found on the individual qualification pages for all the qualifications you are interested in offering to be sure you fully understand the requirements for each.
- Incomplete, incorrect or inadequate applications will delay the approval process, may incur an additional support fee, and could result in your application being rejected.
- Trident Awards generally requires at least two named contacts for approval, one of whom must hold the role of Internal Quality Assurer.
- Please note that Trident Awards will not approve SIA licence-linked qualifications to be delivered outside the UK due to quality assurance and security reasons.
- No refund of the application fee can be given if a centre fails to meet the requirements or is not approved for any reason.
- Trident Awards is the brand name used by Laser Learning Awards for its work in the security industry. Centres successful in their application will become approved centres of Laser Learning Awards, permitted to offer specific named qualifications in the security industry. You may also apply for approval to deliver other qualifications under the Laser Learning Awards brand at the same time (including APLH, and Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events etc.) or these can be added later.
- Trident Awards has a zero-tolerance approach to malpractice and any failure to comply with the requirements for centre approval and qualification delivery/assessment, and approval may be withdrawn at any time in accordance with our Centre Recognition Agreement.
- Approval may also be withdrawn after a period of inactivity of six months.
- If your initial application is accepted, you will be invoiced for the appropriate centre application fee. Link to the current fees can be found at the bottom of this page. Acceptance of your initial application does not guarantee approval, and you must ensure you have all the necessary resources and policies in place. Once the application fee has been received and cleared, your application will progress, and you will be required to complete and submit the forms we have provided you with.
- A visit will be arranged once all the required documents have been satisfactorily completed and submitted. During this visit, you will need to demonstrate the availability of all resources, including the policies referred to in the application form.
- After the visit, a final decision will be made about the suitability of your centre to become approved for the requested qualifications. You will receive a report which may include Conditions (which must be completed before approval will be granted) and/or Recommendations (which are strongly advised).
- To be a recognised centre approved to offer security qualifications, you must understand and comply with all SIA and Ofqual regulatory requirements. We are happy to discuss these with you and, if appropriate, support your centre to ensure you are able to comply.
