Overview

The LASER Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an industry-standard qualification developed in conjunction with the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), now under the stewardship of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) who are responsible for the guardianship of the Professional Standards in Teaching.

The qualification provides a nationally recognised introduction to teaching, appropriate for trainee teachers, tutors and trainers working in further, adult or community education or work-based learning.

Qualification specifications Rules of Combination To achieve the LASER Level 3 Award in Education and Training the learner must achieve a minimum of 12 credits. 3 credits must be taken from Unit Group A. A minimum of 6 credits must be taken from Unit Group B. A minimum of 3 credits must be taken from Unit Group C.

Learners must be able to meet minimum practice requirements where applicable. Providers should consult the Qualification Specification for further guidance which also covers subject and vocational competency and the minimum core of literacy, numeracy and ICT.

Portfolio of evidence compiled by learners to show they have met each unit assessment criteria
Learner also needs to meet minimum practice requirements (Certificate and Diploma only - there is the option of a micro-teach in the Award) and standards of observed practice
