We are excited to announce the launch of two new qualifications:
This comprehensive suite of three qualifications is designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and skills required to work as stewards at spectator events. The role of a steward is pivotal, ensuring the safety and security of attendees while contributing to the smooth operation of events.
Stewarding is a versatile and vital profession that spans a wide variety of events, including sporting matches, live music gigs and festivals, theatre and comedy performances, parades and carnivals, and cherished community gatherings. Stewards play a crucial role in creating a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for all participants.
A steward’s duties can vary depending on the type of venue and the specific event, but they always revolve around ensuring safety and maintaining order.
LASER works closely with the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) to promote the professionalisation of the Spectator Safety sector. To find more about developments in the Football Spectator Safety arena click here.

For Level 2 and Level 3 Certificates only, access to Application Of Physical Intervention Skills In The Private Security Industry unit. This unit is included in the Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry which is required for individuals wishing to gain a Door Supervisor licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Learners must be 16+(18+ if taking physical intervention unit) to take this qualification.
Learners must be able to communicate in English.
Note: prior to completion, learners will also have to show evidence of completing the ACT e-learning counter terrorism training.
Note: learners opting to take the Application Of Physical Intervention Skills In The Private Security Industry (SIA) and/or the Deal With Incidents At Spectator Events units must attend a first aid training course or gain a recognised first-aid award prior to completing the qualification.
