Mental Health Awareness Week is an important reminder to prioritise mental wellbeing. It encourages us to challenge stigma and embrace practical actions to support ourselves and others, both personally and professionally.

This year’s theme is ‘Action’, highlighting that awareness alone is not enough. It is the actions we take that create meaningful change.  At Laser Learning Awards, we believe education is a powerful form of action, and we are proud to offer a range of mental health qualifications.  These have been designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make a real difference.  Whether that’s supporting their own wellbeing, helping others, or contributing to a culture that prioritises positive mental health.

Turning Awareness into Action

Our qualifications support learners in developing both understanding and practical skills.  From exploring mental health in health and social care professions to building practical strategies for wellbeing, learners are empowered to turn awareness into meaningful action.

We offer several Mental Health Pathways within our Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Working in Health and Social Care Professions qualification, alongside flexible options within our widely respected Progression Qualifications, designed to support learners of all ages and levels of experience.

Explore our Progression Qualifications

LASER’s Progression qualifications are flexible, accessible, and designed to help you make a difference in your own life and others.  Available at Entry 3 to Level 3, these qualifications allow your learners to explore personal development, literacy and numeracy skills and work-related learning in a way that suits their pace and goals.

Within our Progression Portfolio we offer the following mental health units at Level 1 and Level 2:

Approaches to Mental Health

Understanding Mental Health

Understanding the Mental Health Nursing Profession

What Learners Will Gain

Across these qualifications, learners build a strong foundation in mental health, including:

  • Understanding common conditions and their causes

  • Exploring treatment and support approaches

  • Developing communication and behaviour management skills

  • Gaining insight into how mental health services operate.

Learners also explore the roles of different professionals and how care is coordinated.

The Understanding the Mental Health Nursing Profession qualification introduces:

  • The role and responsibilities of mental health nurses

  • Relevant legislation

  • The needs of diverse patient groups

This provides an excellent starting point for further study or a career in health and social care.

Pathways in Health and Social Care

For learners interested in pursuing a specific career, our Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Working in Health and Social Care Professions qualification allows them to focus on one profession in more detail.

We have a wide range of pathways available ranging from Radiography/Medical Imaging to Midwifery.  Explore all pathways available here.

The units can also be accessed through our Progression Portfolio, where funding is available.

Why Offer These Qualifications

Mental health is now recognised as just as important as physical health, with increasing demand for people who can identify issues early, respond appropriately and support others in a safe and informed way. These qualifications help learners develop essential knowledge and confidence, whether they progress into health and social care careers or apply their skills in everyday life.

Let us help your learners take ‘action’ and build a society that is more informed, supportive and proactive about mental wellbeing.

How to Offer These Qualifications

To deliver these qualifications, your organisation must be a LASER Approved Centre.
