Summer is Buzzing – Discover the fascinating world of honey bees

On a warm summer's day, a single honey bee might visit up to 5,000 flowers, while a healthy hive can contain more than 50,000 bees*, all working together to collect nectar, raise young, and produce the honey we enjoy. With hives at their busiest, summer is the perfect time to shine a spotlight on the fascinating world of honey bees.

For centres looking to offer something different, LASER's Beekeeping units provide learners with an engaging introduction to apiculture while developing valuable vocational, practical, and employability skills.

What Learners Will Gain

Our Beekeeping units give learners the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with one of nature's most remarkable creatures while developing real-world, transferable skills. From understanding more about bees and how a hive functions to carrying out routine inspections and extracting honey, learners build confidence, responsibility and an appreciation of the vital role bees play in supporting biodiversity and our environment.

Available at Level 1, these engaging units combine practical learning with environmental awareness and can provide a stepping stone to employment, self-employment or further study, making them an excellent addition for centres looking to broaden their practical curriculum with a unique subject that brings learning to life.
