Overview
This suite of qualifications comprises two Level 3 qualifications:
- LASER Level 3 Award in Academic Study Skills
- LASER Level 3 Certificate in Academic Study Skills
The qualifications are designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to progress to higher education. They include key functional skills in writing, mathematics and information communication technology as well as other skills which will be of significant benefit in future academic studies or in professional practice. The qualifications offer maximum flexibility for students to develop their skills in areas of study appropriate to their needs.

* Universities and colleges set their own entry requirements and do not have to accept a qualification simply because it is included in the UCAS Tariff tables.

LASER stipulates a 16+ entry requirement for this qualification. Students should also have achieved GCSE level English or equivalent. Students for whom English is not their first language should have achieved: A secure English Language Test (SELT) pass from an approved UK/Non-UK provider equivalent to CEFR level B1 and/or, GCSE English or Scottish National Qualification Level 4 from a UK school.
