An awarding organisation is a body that designs, develops, quality assures and awards qualifications. It sets learning outcomes that define the knowledge, skills, and/or understanding learners must demonstrate, develops and quality assures assessments, and awards certificates to successful learners. Regulated awarding organisations ensure that qualifications are credible, fair, and nationally recognised.
Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) regulates awarding organisations in England to protect learners and maintain public confidence in qualifications.
Being regulated by Ofqual means that an awarding organisation is required to meet and demonstrate high standards consistently. This ensures qualifications are compliant, credible, quality-assured, and trusted by learners, employers, and education providers.
We are an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation and a QAA-licensed Access Validating Agency (AVA) for Access to Higher Education Diplomas. We are also approved by the SIA under the specialist brand name Trident Awards to offer SIA licence-linked qualifications in the private security industry.
