What are Skills for Working in Health and Social Care Professions?
The LASER Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Working in Health and Social Care Professions qualification is designed to prepare learners for entry to a professional career within the health and social care sectors by providing them with the knowledge and skills to progress onto an appropriate programme of training and learning, leading to a professional career.
Achievement of the qualification will also support learners to enter employment within these sectors. The opportunity to progress onto an Access to Higher Education Diploma is also a potential outcome of achieving this qualification.
What specific subjects are available?
The qualification is designed with the flexibility to meet the needs of learners aspiring to progress onto a range of health and social care professions. Learners select one specific health or social care profession to study in more detail, or they can pursue a generic route.
Specific subjects include:
- Mental Health Nursing
- Midwifery
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Radiography

How long does the qualification take to complete?
The recommended Total Qualification Time (TQT) is 260 hours, with guided learning hours of between 195 and 236 hours depending on the pathway and units chosen.
How do I deliver this qualification as a centre?
To offer this qualification, you must be a Recognised LASER Centre. For further information about gaining recognition or working in partnership with a Recognised Centre please visit our website. Existing Recognised Centres must complete a New Course Notification Form before starting to deliver the qualification.
