Youth Work Practice (QCF)
LASER’s range of Level 2 and Level 3 ‘Youth Work Practice’ (QCF) qualifications were developed and designed in conjunction with the Education and Training Standards Committee of the National Youth Agency. Aimed at practicing Youth Support Workers seeking recognition for their knowledge and skills, there are four qualifications in total, one Award, two Certificates and one Diploma. The qualifications are ‘nested’ qualifications (i.e. credits achieved for an Award can contribute towards achievement of a Certificate etc. – where there is an overlap between the qualifications at unit level). The Level 2 Award and Level 2 Certificate are available to learners aged 16 plus and the Level 3 Certificate and Level Diploma are available to learners aged 18 plus. The recommended number of guided learning hours is between 73 and 218 hours, depending on the qualification and units chosen. Learners are assessed in terms of whether they have met the assessment criteria specified in the units of assessment, and are required to collate a portfolio of evidence.
